Teeth

Alex lost his second tooth on top and the whole thing has me feeling sentimental!  I don't remember feeling this way when Ethan and Emma lost their top teeth.  I think it's because he's the last one to lose them and I had the realization this is the last time I will experience this childhood right of passage with them (that was a long sentence but I don't feel like rewriting it).  Then, of course, those big teeth grow in and it takes a while for their heads to grow enough to match the teeth.  Alex was feeling shy so I had to bribe him with a dollar so I could videotape him talking without the teeth.  He looks so cute and I realize that the little boy will not stay little much longer!  I want him to look back and be able to remember the excitement.  His first grade class has a boys vs. girls contest to see who loses the most teeth by the end of the year.  So far the girls are winning.  I love his sweet smile.

Happy to Be Mrs. M

David had some new photos taken by the very talented Emily of Carpe Diem Photography.

I love the first one and find myself looking at all the features I know and love so well, including the freckles across his nose and cheeks.  I also love the last one for, well . . for obvious reasons!

Favorites

Is Halloween as exciting at your house as it is at ours? Here are Emma as Rapunzel, Ethan as Goku and Alex as Optimus Prime. Ethan said his two favorite costumes EVER are this one and when he was a soccer ball.  Both costumes were designed (with a little help from me) and sewn (with NO help from me) by my dear friend, Desi.  In case you don't know (I'd be surprised if you did), Goku is a character from an old Japanese cartoon called Dragonball.

P.S.  The pumpkins in the soccer picture all came from our garden and we had to use the wheelbarrow to get them to the front porch.  It was a stellar harvest!  This year, one of those puney pumpkins came from our garden and the others from a pumpkin patch.  I wish I knew the secret.

Countdown

Only four more days 'til Alex gets his cast off and trust me, he is counting! He has taken it all in stride but is super excited that he'll get to play the last two soccer games of the season. Guitar lessons will also resume (he acts shy about it, but I think he's pretty excited about that too).

It's All About the Shoes

Ethan's soccer team has been playing in a tournament over the last few days. Here he is in his new cleats which he insisted would make him faster because one of his teammates has the same pair and he is super fast. He was fast before but if the perfect pair of shoes makes him feel good, I can relate to that! They played hard and were the runners-up! They made the first-place winners work HARD for the title. A fun, proud day for all!

Red Revival

Emma's dance company performed at a retirement center last night for their first performance of the season. The girls were so cute and so excited. The required lipstick is Red Revival. It works on stage but up close, wow! Here is Emma with proud papa, and also with her BFF, Kiana.
